Body Contour

Body Contouring:

Contouring has been around for many, many years. It’s only in the last 2/3 years that it has become a phenomenon. What’s really important to remember is that contouring isn’t just for the face. It is for the body as well. To help enhcance and detract from what is already there.

Products:
·       Kryolan Foundation Palette
·       Dermacolour concealer
·       Illamasqua Skin Base: White
·       Brushes- Foundation, Kabuki, Angled blusher, Large flat eyeshadow brush
·       Powder
·       Fixing Spray- Optional

Method:
1.    Apply foundation to the face, neck and down to the breast bone. Buff in with the Kabuki.
2.    Take a darker shade of foundation and contour the face, bones around the shoulders and apply triangles in the collarbones. Blend using fingers.
3.    Use natural muscle definition and follow that applying the darker shade down the arms. Blend using fingers.
4.    Contour the breasts, use the natural line in the cleavage to enhance what is already there. Apply to the top of the cleavage to give a ‘rounder/fuller’ look. Blend with fingers if the model is comfortable with it, if not use a brush.
5.    Mixer a shade lighter than the skin tone by adding Skin Base: White. Then go and highlight the areas you’ve just contoured. Apply to the collar bones, face, arms, shoulders. It adds contrast to what you’ve already done.
6.    Step back from your model and look at what you’ve done, darker contour if it isn’t right or apply more of the highlight shade.
7.    Use a fixing spray or powder to finish. Kryolan foundation is a grease based product and will transfer onto clothes if you don’t set it.

Reflection:

At first I wasn’t happy with the contouring I had done on the breasts. I went back took away from the sides to make it look more natural. It worked. It’s important to have a basic understanding of anatomy for this to be a really effective make up technique.
